3-16-13

Welcome back from a beautiful spring break! I hope it was a nice time of relaxation :)

We are starting out Quarter 4 with a brand new unit: Congruent and Symmetric Figures! This unit is reminiscent of the Geometry unit from 3rd quarter in the way that it largely deals with figures and objects, as opposed to numbers and operations.

In this first week, we will discuss congruent figures, tessellations, and begin talking about lines of symmetry. We will define each of these terms, talk about examples and non-examples of each, do a few fun and helpful activities, and find out where and when we can see these mathematical concepts evidenced in everyday life.

It will surely be a time a discovery. I look forward to embarking on this new unit with the students!
